Courses and Workshops in Multisensory Strategies for teaching mathematics are available from ASDEC, a nationally certified teacher training facility in Rockville, MD.
The courses and workshops are based on current research in mathematics, the focal points from the NCTM and approaches advocated by the National Math Panel.
Multisensory strategies are based on the Orton-Gillingham approach to education developed for students with dyslexia and related learning disabilities but they are appropriate for all students.
The MSM approach is hands-on and uses manipulatives to teach math concepts before continuing to a representational and abstract level of instruction.
